➤    In 10,000 BC, the estimated world population was 10 million, which is about the population of             
        Sweden.
➤    By 1800 the world population was 1 billion.
➤    In 1900 the population rose to 2 billion, and by 2000 it was 7 billion
➤    Throughout the years as fertility rates have gone down, life spans have extended.
➤    Women have an average of 2.5 children.
➤    80% of adults in the world are literate.
➤    The larger a person's income, the longer their lifespan is.

March 23rd, 2020 Alexander and Bucephalus Bucephalus was the legendary horse of Alexander the Great, a well-known king of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia. In 344 B.C., Alexander won the horse by making a bet with his father. At the time, he was thirteen years old. Bucephalus was a large horse with a black coat. He had blue eyes and a white star on his eyebrow. Not only was he a stunning animal, but he was also stubborn. No one in the land could tame the horse. Alexander was the only one who could tame him. Bucephalus was always by Alexander's side during battle. Bucephalus died by fatal injuries at the Battle of the Hydaspes in June of 326 B.C. After the battle, Alexander founded a city called Bucephala in honor of Bucephalus. Alexander the Great and Bucephalus were an inseparable team of two and are known as great heroes of Greece.

April 1st, 2020 The Legacy of Greek Theater 1. The Ancient Greeks had two kinds of dramas: tragedy and comedy. Tragedies usually consisted of common themes such as love, hate, or betrayal. Tragedies are the more serious type of drama and usually have a main character or hero who is gifted with special abilities. In the end, one of the hero's flaws usually causes his or her's downfall. The second type of drama is a comedy which includes scenes of jokes and crude humor.  2 (a). Most of the theater productions I have been in all have a main character that goes through a challenge and has a downfall because of one of their flaws. Many of these plays also portray themes of either love or betrayal.  3.  The Greeks used amphitheaters to amplify the actors' voices throughout the entire theatre. These types of theaters hade seats in a half-circle around the stage, which allowed the entire audience to see the stage.

December 5th, 2019 Guns, Germs, and Steel Episode 3 1)  Due to their geographical location, Europeans had the most productive crops and animals, which allowed them to develop guns, germs, and steel. 2)  The temperature and climate in the South African cape are about the same as it is in Europe because both locations have a similar latitude meaning the Europeans could grow the same type of crops and raise the same type of livestock. 3)  Europeans brought new diseases to these populations, and when the people of the Americas and the South African cape came into contact with these diseases they died, which allowed the Europeans who were immune to these germs from prior exposure to settle into their lands. 4)  The Europeans and their livestock were being infected by germs native to Africa and were dying.  5)  The native Africans had developed immunity to diseases because they had been exposed to these diseases for a long time.
